  1. The current political climate is one of great change. The past four years
  2. have been a time of economic growth and government downsizing.  There
  3. have been no military conflicts for four years and not much internal
  4. turmoil. The United Nations has taken a stronger role in managing
  5. international conflict, of which there is little.

  8. Richard Marx, the current president, has enjoyed a rather event-free term of
  9. office.  He has spent a great deal of time at fund raisers for various
  10. social causes even though he had run his campaign on a very conservative
  11. platform.  His foreign policy dealings have been more for show than for
  12. gaining foreign interests.  The president has maintained a slightly 
  13. fluctuating approval rating, now at 55%. He is dropping in the polls
  14. due to competition in the current election race.
